The second day of our trip, we motored to Drei Annen Hohne and caught the train to the top of the Brocken (1125m). This 'hill' is the highest point of the Harz Mountains and is a rounded and forested lump! The narrow gauge adhesion train winds its way almost to the very top. The top itself is home to a rather obtrusive aerial system, looking a bit like a space rocket! There is a also a large visitor centre and museum.
There were no less than five different locomotives seen in steam on just this one section.
