Meyer Steam in the Erzgebirge.
A selection of photographs of the Meyer steam locomotive hauled train service running between Johstadt and Steinbach. Johstadt lies in the Erzgebirge, the ore-mountains, a hilly area of Germany, close to the Czech Republic. The line is now truncated and part of it has been converted into a cycle track. This area is delightfully picturesque, with rolling hills, steep sided valleys and old historic towns. It was formerly the source of much mineral wealth and was a major silver producing area.
