We had a days excursion down to Lake Balaton. This is Hungary and Europe's largest freshwater lake. It is approximately 180km long and ranges from 15km wide to just 1.5km at the Tihany peninsula. It has an average depth of only 3m and was pleasantly warm to swim in.
