We will soon be flying our kites at Otterspool for the annual 'Light Up The Sky' event. This national event was created to give us an opportunity as kite fliers to raise funds for the BBC's 'Children In Need' Appeal. This has worked very well over the years and we have contributed funds each year to this appeal.

This last year we lost Frank Hardman to cancer. He was a regular at Otterspool for our 'Light Up The Sky' event and his large LED delta kite always produced a spectacular display in the sky. In tribute to Frank, we will this year, be changing our chosen charity to 'Cancer Research UK'. It seems entirely appropriate given that cancer in some form or other is likely to effect so many of us throughout our lives.

We will be flying at the Otterspool Promenade, Liverpool on Sunday 18th October, starting at around mid-day and going on until after dark when fliers 'Light up the Sky' with a display of kites with lights. We are hoping that during the day we will be able to hold a Teddy Bear Drop including this year a new bear named 'George' who is part of the 'CLIC Sargent' Children with Cancer appeal.

Soup, sandwiches, cakes etc. will be provided by the Otterspool regulars and we will hold the traditional auction in the early evening.

It really would be good to see as many members as possible at this, one of our highlight events of the year. Last year we battled with a strong wind but still managed our Teddy Drop but then the wind moderated and we had numerous kites aloft with a variety of colourful lights. It really was a good 'Light Up The Sky'! Looking forward to seeing you there.
