Callanish Standing Stones (Calanais)

        Callanish Standing Stones (Calanais)               More
Callanish Standing Stones (Calanais) The whole site was abandoned sometime around 800BC and a blanket of peat formed over it. This was all part of a massive climate change resulting in a much colder and wetter landscape. The trees died back to be replaced with the peat bogs we see today. The people must have wondered what they had done to achieve this change.
